I wrote 'Rik's Bikes' a couple of months ago for two friends of mine who made the brave move to open a bike shop in the middle of a pandemic whilst recovering from a spinal operation with a seven month old in tow... I wanted to write something joyful to mark their one year anniversary and to celebrate how amazing I think they both are. They are big Americana fans so I dusted off the ol' banjo, channelled a little 'high lonesome sound' and wrote them a song.

With a broken spoke well don't dismay
Rik's got a remedy to make things fine
He'll get you back on your bike in a record time
If your two wheeled friend won't take that load

I don't know of a bike that he can't mend

Dig out my old bicycle
And head down to Rik's Bikes

And your trusty friend's got squeaky wheel

For your two wheeled vehicle to go

Sleeping rusty in the back of your shed

He's your bike mechanic in your neighbourhood
